Hyderabad: Telugu actor Pallapollu Navdeep appeared before the Telangana government’s special investigation team (SIT) on Monday in connection with the high-end drug racket that stopped in Hyderabad in early July.
He is the third actor after Tarun Kumar and character actor P Subba Raju appear before SIT officials.
SIT officials said actresses Charmee Kaur and Mumaith Kaur would also be appearing before the polling team.
The SIT of the ban and the excise department has convened about 12 personalities, including actors from the Telugu film industry, to be questioned in connection with the racket.
The SIT had issued notices to all of them under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) after racket, involved in the supply of high-end drugs such as LSD and MDMA in Hyderabad and around Hyderabad, was disrupted The 2 of July.
The racket involved the delivery of high-end drugs, such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA).
Investigators suspect that the movie’s personalities, the employees of the multinationals, the school and the university students were among the clients.
The attackers placed orders through the “Darknet” network (an online restricted network frequently used in illegal activities) and the drugs were delivered by couriers, even from abroad, officials said.
Tax officials said earlier that the names of some Telugu film personalities came out during the interrogation of those arrested. SIT was interrogating them to find out if they had any link to the racket as consumers or vendors or those arrested.
Blood, hair and nail samples from some of the roasts were also collected.
Since July 19, SIT has interviewed the famous filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, director of photography Shyam K Naidu and character actor P Subba Raju, as well as Tarun and Pallapollu Navdeep.
Navdeep has starred in Telugu films as “Jai”, “Arya 2″ and “Dhruva”. He has also performed in a few Tamil movies.
SIT officials contended that the telugu movie personalities questioned so far in relation to the cases have cooperated with the investigators and given “useful” racket related information.
The SIT has detained 15 people, including US citizen Dundu Anish, a former aerospace engineer who has worked with NASA and seven holders of BTech titles employed at multinationals in Hyderabad.
