3 Swine Flu Cases Detected in Telangana
HYDERABAD: At least three cases of Swine Flu (H1N1) were reported in the city and other districts of Telangana over the last one week, officials said today.
The infected patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals including state-run Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, they said, adding their condition is stable.
There were reports of two more persons undergoing treatment for Swine Flu at a private hospital.
The situation is not alarming and the new cases can be attributed to the recent Pushkaralu where there was mass gathering, a senior doctor said.
Gandhi Hospital is geared up to combat the epidemic this season going by the last season’s experience. An awareness programme on the preparedness to tackle this epidemic was conducted yesterday, Dr Narasimulu, Nodal Officer at Gandhi Hospital said.
Gandhi Hospital has a special ward for H1N1 patients and it was the nodal centre during last year’s Swine Flu outbreak.
The victim was tested positive for H1N1, and she was admitted to the hospital after high fever and headache. She ultimately succumbed to the disease on Sunday night. This time the death toll in Andhra Pradesh due to Swine Flu has been amazingly high.
In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, nearly 70 people died of Swine Flu early this year as well. Swine Flu needs to be diagnosed and tested at the very first incidence or it may aggravate and cause grave situations.
The government has sent an alert in Telangana saying that all drains and roads should be kept clean and all industrial areas and schools and college’s should also be free from swine’s and germs. People have also been advised not to eat Pork products.
