Coal scam: Court summons former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a defendant

Former Secretary of coal PC Parakh, Kumar Mangalam Birla Industrial and three others were also cited as defendants in the case concerning the allocation of blocks Talabira-II to Hindalco when Manmohan Singh held the additional charge of portfoliol coal.Court summons for offenses of conspiracy, breach of trust and under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Reacting to the court order, Manmohan Singh said, “I am upset with subpoena, but it is part of life,” adding, which is open to legal scrutiny. The former prime minister said he has not seen the court order and will respond after consulting his lawyers.
