Hyderabad: The fierce shootings that killed four policemen and two members of a ‘UP gang’ in two separate incidents claimed, but related, in a span of 50 hours in Telangana have highlighted the activities of SIMI members once more. Police sources say that although it has not established any clear connection between these incidents and terrorism there is still a strong possibility that members of the dead bands are among the SIMI activists who have been released after leak prison in Madhya Pradesh.
Seven activists of the banned organization had fled the prison Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh after the jailbreak on October 1, 2013. The names of the dead in Telangana – Aslam and Zakir – match the two names of the seven. The Director General of Police of Telangana Anurag Sharma said the police were trying to establish the identity of those killed in the encounter by analyzing the complete data.
