Hema Malini driver arrested for rash driving
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Police on Friday arrested the driver of Bollywood actor Hema Malini car after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP was involved in a fatal road accident.
The arrested driver identified as Mahesh Thakur (35) is a native of Vrindavan. He was booked under Section 304-A of IPC, which is a bailable offense. However, the driver will have to wait for bail since no local connections for bail.
Police had filed an FIR against the driver after the accident, which occurred near Jaipur, she left one person dead and wounded girl Hema Malini.
On Friday morning, a police team arrived in Jaipur Dausa and arrested the driver Mahesh who hails from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh at 7:45 a.m.. “We’ve arrested under section 304-A (Causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which is a bailable offense,” said Rajesh Tyagi, deputy superintendent of police, as he spoke Dausá with TOI after the arrest. The driver would be taken to the place of accident fo spot verification.
Refuting reports saying Hema Malini was driving the vehicle, Tyagi said: “Air bags vehicle accident opened successfully met the driver and his next venue on the left, while the airbag in the rear seats, including the left side where Hema Malini was sitting not open. There was also blood on the left side where she sat with it clear that she was not driving the vehicle. ”
“It happened in Dausa. The exact location can only be told by the employee. Now the MP has been brought here for treatment,” said a police officer.
A child of two and a half years, one of the occupants of the other car, died in the accident.
Hema, who suffered wounds in the front, back and legs, was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Jaipur by a local doctor, Shiv Kumar Sharma, in his car.
“I just saw the accident when I was passing through the actor and sought help,” Sharma said.
According to doctors at Fortis Hospital, the BJP MP is out of danger while he did not suffer major injuries. His wound near the eye, however, was bleeding and she is being treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital.
The accident occurred when the car Mercedes Hema, from the Agra-Jaipur National Highway-11, collided head-on with a car Alto carrying five members of a family from the nearby town Lalsot.
The car made a right turn towards Lalsot bypass when he hit the car of MP coming on the road.
Hema driver struggled to avoid another car, but could not, according to eyewitnesses.
Two and a half years old, Sonam was pronounced dead when he was taken to Government Hospital Dausa.
Two other occupants of the vehicle, Seema and Sanu, were referred to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur in critical condition.
Police arrived on the scene only after the injured were taken to various hospitals.
Hema driver, driving his Mercedes with registration umber Haryana, also suffered minor injuries, the sources said.
