Wimbledon 2015: Everything you need to know about Nadal-conqueror Dustin Brown
Dustin Brown became a cult hero overnight while 10th seed Rafael Nadal was shocked in the second round of Wimbledon. 102 brown-ranked Nadal beat 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to hand the Spanish his fourth consecutive Wimbledon defeat by a player ranked 100 or worse.
Here’s everything you need to know about the charismatic Dustin Brown:
1) Dustin Brown was born in Celle, West Germany on December 8, 1984 to a Jamaican father and German mother. He started playing football, judo and handball but switched to play tennis at the age of eight.
2) When he was 12, his parents emigrated to Montego Bay in Jamaica in 1996 and that is where his career began. But moved back to Europe in 2004. Brown was eligible to represent Great Britain through his paternal grandmother, before he opted for Germany again.
3) Brown can speak three languages fluently – German, English and Jamaica.
4) In 2004, Brown’s parents gave him a caravan and used to travel to tournaments in Europe to save money.
5) Brown started making it big in 2009, where he reached the final of the Challenger several matches. The following year, he broke into the top 100 for the first time, helping to earn enough money to pay the loan from his parents. Later, he reached a career high ranking of 78 in 2014.
6) According to The Telegraph, Brown has not cut his hair for 19 years and has a pierced tongue too.
7) Brown is nicknamed ‘Dreddy “because his hair in dreadlocks.

8) After his victory over Nadal, Brown slapped a large tattoo on his torso. There was confusion whether it was Bob Marley, but later it became clear that was the face of his father.
“I have the picture of my father at home in my bedroom, too. Not see him often. Normally in the offseason,” Brown said Wimbledon.com.
“It’s been a very long for me and my family way. That’s one of the things I’ve been wanting to do for a long time and I was able to do that with a great tattoo artist in Cologne in Germany last year” he added.
9) According to Espejo, Marat Safin is the idol of Brown.
10) This is not the first time Brown has beaten Nadal. Last year, Brown had overtaken Spanish 6-4, 6-1 in Wimbledon warm-up event in Halle. He has a 2-0 record against Nadal now.
