Rahul Gandhi to undertake ‘Padayatra’ in Andhra Pradesh on July 24

HYDERABAD: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi would undertake a ‘padayatra’ and interact with farmers, weavers and women self-help groups in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh during a visit on July 24.

Mr. Gandhi, who has held similar views and marches standing in states like Punjab and Telangana, would begin his “padayatra ‘Obuladevara Cheruvu village in the district Anantapur perennially hit by the drought in the morning of July 24, a statement said Andhra Pradesh Congress today.

Along the way, they will interact with farmers, weavers and students, along with garlands statues Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar and late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy said.

He would continue his “padayatra ‘into two sections and meetings with NREGS workers and migrant labor in the different towns of the region.

He is scheduled to meet the family of a farmer Harinath Reddy who allegedly committed suicide.

After extreme ‘Padayatra’ Mr Gandhi would receive representations of people and also talk with top congressional leaders at Puttaparthi, the spiritual city of the end of Satya Sai Baba.

The vice-president of the Congress visit the ‘Maha Samadhi’ of Satya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, before concluding his visit, the statement said.

Mr. Gandhi conducted a ‘padayatra’ in Telangana in May this year during which he lambasted the NDA government in the government of Central and TRS in Telangana in farmers’ and land issues.

Anantapur district, on the border of Karnataka, is one of the country’s districts that receive less rainfall.
