Now, Trump Targets Spouses of H-1B Visa-holders!

23Going by the policies of Donald Trump, his administration looks to be on the mission of getting rid of not just the illegal immigrants but also those who have permission to work legally in the US.

In a latest move, Department of Justice (DOJ) has reportedly appealed the Washington DC court seeking a 60-day freeze in cases involving employment authorization for H-4 visa-holders, who are mostly dependent spouses of H-1B visa-holders.

Several thousands of Indian spouses come in the above category. And, they won a hard-fought allowance to work in the US in February 2015 during the Obama administration. At that time, an organization called ‘Save Jobs USA’ filed an unsuccessful petition against the Obama ruling.

Soon after the Trump administration took charge, ‘Save Jobs USA’ has once again come into picture and filed a fresh petition. This time, it found immediate support from the administration.

Aman Kapoor, president of Immigration Voice, which has now filed a motion on behalf of thousands of H-4 visa-holding spouses, said that the DoJ attorneys have no solid basis to repeal the H-4 visa-holders’ right to work in America. He added that the administration cant downplay the fact that the H-4 visa facilitates several highly qualified spouses strengthening the US economy in terms of revenue and jobs.
