‘We Can Make 500 Movies Instead of Baahubali’
Tollywood people and Telugu film lovers call Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘Baahubali’, our pride. It doesn’t mean that the film has no detractors, but they are far and few. It seems that legendary Telugu actor Kaikala Satyanarayana is one among them.
In a recent interview, Kaikala found fault with the popular perception of ‘Baahubali’ being called the pride of Tollywood. ‘What is so great about that film. If one makes a film with huge sets and graphics, will it be a great film? We used to call them tricks and now they call Graphics. Does Baahubali has any story,’ he questioned.
He went on to say that 500 films can be made with Rs 500 Cr budget, which was reportedly splurged to make Baahubali. ‘We have seen all that grandeur very long ago in Hollywood. Wasting crores of money and luring people with graphics won’t make a film great,’ he jibed.
Some time ago, veteran actress Jamuna too expressed similar views. Generation gap could probably be the reason for the veterans having such contrasting opinions on big budget visual extravaganzas, which are loved by this generation.
