Government has allotted 20 acres of land to establish Ambedkar ‘Smrithi Vanam’ (Memorial Park) including 125 feet high statue. The total cost of the project is around Rs 100 crore and Naidu already sanctioned Rs 90 crore in advance.
Soil procured from Ambedkar’s native village in Madhya Pradesh and from Parliament has been used in laying the foundation for the project. Budha monks from across the country also grace the occasion. Naidu wanted to promote the memorial as one of the attractive tourist spots in the country. Besides, the memorial will promote Ambedkar ideology and educate people about his unstinted efforts towards the empowerment of poor.
