Government of the Union revealed on Friday the new list of 30 cities to be developed as Smart Cities. Amaravati of Andhra Pradesh and Karimnagar of Telangana managed to form part of the Smart City Mission in Round 3.
Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu reported that 45 cities have competed for 40 locations available from Smart City, but only 30 of them were selected. He added, ’20 Cities will compete for the remaining 10 slots’.
Center has released two lists of Smart Cities in the past. Each Smart City will receive an investment of Rs 500 from the Center for a period of 5 years. As much as Rs 57,393 crore is going to invest in Smart City Mission.
