Mumbai: The Mumbai Police Cyber Cell registered a FIR against All India Bakchod (AIB) co-founder Tanmay Bhat on Friday for mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It started with the official AIB Twitter account by posting a meme on Modi, using Snapchat’s dog filter.
The tweet had a photo filtered by the Prime Minister’s dog with the subtitle #Wanderlust, adding “Dog filter is lyf.” (Sic)
However, Modi’s plethora of fans took offense, and in return, the AIB has to face its wrath.
One of the Twitter users, Reetesh Maheshwari, tagged Mumbai police and said that strict measures against the organization should be taken for a “disrespectful” joke against the Prime Minister.
Mumbai police responded immediately, saying they would send the matter to the cyber police station.
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are sending this to the cyber police station,” Mumbai police tweeted.
This is not the first time that Tanmay is involved in a controversy.
Last year, in May, Bhatt received a national flak for releasing an irreverent video of a mock conversation between legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
He posted a video on his Facebook account subtitled ‘Sachin vs. Lata Civil War’ along with this disclaimer: I do such nonsense in my Snapchat. (I do so much nonsense in my Snapchat – follow me there – ID: Thetanmay) (I also obviously love Lata and Sachin, just having some fun).
Bhatt’s jokes are generally appreciated, but he faced the wrath of his fans and several Bollywood celebrities this time around.
In the year 2015, the AIB played a major role, when it presented a first class comedy event, called ‘AIB roast’, which used a language loaded with expletive in a public event, attracting many political parties like Shiv Sena and others .
