Soon after taking the oath, Kovind had said that he was honored to be sworn in while the 16th President of India would be carrying out responsibilities “with all humility”.

President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan escorted by the Military Secretary to the President. Pranab Mukherjee had also taken Kovind on a tour of the official residence.

Members of Ram Nath Kovind’s family, associates and close friends came for the inauguration in Parliament.

On Tuesday, Kovind arrived in Rajghat and paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi along with his wife Savita.

The ceremony began at 12:15 pm in the Parliament’s Central Hall.

In Parliament, both were received by Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Sumitra Mahajan.

The platform in the central lobby was shared by the President and the President-elect, President, Vice-President and Chief Justice of India.

After the event, outgoing President Mukherjee will proceed to his new residence – 10, Rajaji Marg.

Ram Nath Kovind was elected president last Thursday as the NDA candidate. It defeated the candidate of the opposition parties Meira Kumar by a huge margin.

Ram Nath Kovind, who served as Governor Number 35 of Bihar was born on October 1, 1945 in the village of Paraukh in Kanpur Dehat district, Uttar Pradesh. Kovind made his graduation in the law of a university of Kanpur.

Prior to the beginning of his career as a lawyer, Kovind passed the examination of civilian services, but did not join as he was selected for an ally. Kovind joined BJP in 1991. He was BJP president Dalit Morcha between 1998 and 2002. He was also a member of Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2006.
