Mumbai: The government presented a mid-year spending framework on Thursday, pointing out several recent changes in key policy initiatives. He informed Parliament that the food subsidy has been projected at Rs 1.75 lakh crore for fiscal year 2018-19 and Rs 2 lakh crore for 2019-20 fiscal.
“Government revenue spending for fiscal year 2019-20 is seen at Rs 22.06 lakh crore against Rs 1.99 lakh crore for 2018-19 fiscal year,” the report said.
The government has also projected an oil subsidy to Rs 18,000 crore for fiscal year 19, Rs 10,000 crore in FY20 and fertilizer subsidy seen at Rs 70,000 crore each in FY19, FY20, he added.
The most important point in the report could be attributed to the government’s plans for the LPG subsidy. Its aim is to eliminate the LPG subsidy by March 2018 and now focuses on reducing the subsidy to kerosene, says the mid-year spending framework.
