Bengaluru: Congressional Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched “Indira Canteen” in Bengaluru with the vision of providing good quality food to the poor at a cheap price.
Speaking at the event, the party’s vice president again left everyone bewitched with his wrong speech.
When going with the flow Rahul Gandhi said: “Every poor person in the city of Bangalore will feel that in the state of Karnataka, under the government of Siddaramaiah, I simply can not go hungry. That is the vision of Amma … err .. Canteen of Indira. ”
Rahul, who was delivering the speech in English, made another mistake that was unnoticed. The vice-president of the Congress was heard saying that the head minister of Karnataka will open a cantina in similar lines in “every city in Bangalore”.
Rahul said: “The prime minister has mentioned to me that Bangalore is just a start. It will expand this program to other cities and soon in the coming months, every city in Bangalore.”
Rahul said he was proud that it was the Congressional government that conceptualized the Indira canteen.
The vice-president of Congress congratulated the Karnataka government and Prime Minister Siddaramaiah for the initiative and said the Indira canteen is another step towards Congress’s “Food for All” commitment.
“I would like to thank the Prime Minister and the Congress party who have conceptualized this program which is designed to ensure that not one person in Bengaluru goes hungry,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi said he will ensure that the poorest and the weakest are not hungry.
Breakfast at the Indira canteen will be served at Rs 5 while one will have to pay ten rupees for lunch and dinner.
A hoarding image of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and a young Rahul were also placed outside the cantina.
A total of 101 Indira canteens, one of the Karnataka government’s most ambitious projects to serve affordable food, spread on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister of Karnataka had announced this project when he presented the budget on March 15 this year.
