Chief Minister KCR Modi has been criticizing the government for years about the share of tax and GST dues from the Center to the state. CM KCR will once again go to Delhi to discuss with the Prime Minister about the grants for projects in the state, including. There is a possibility of going to Hastina on the 14th of this month. Modi had already asked the PMO for an appointment on that day. KCR will go to Delhi on Saturday if the appointment is confirmed. KCR went to Delhi a few days ago, but had to return without meeting with the Prime Minister.
In a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, KCR recently said that the tax share from the Center to the state is not fully met and there are obstacles to the implementation of welfare schemes and projects. The matter was also discussed at a state Cabinet meeting held two days ago. Under the state’s share of taxes, Rs 19,719 crore was initially allocated. However, the state government has criticized the Center for not providing funds to the tune of Rs 924 crore.
The government says the recession has reduced GST collections. The GST law states that the deficit is to be paid in the form of compensation. The state is asking the Center to pay Rs 1,719 crore as compensation to the GST. Another Rs 2,812 crore is to be received from the Center under IGST settlement, he said. If the KCR goes to Delhi, Modi, along with Nirmala and other Union ministers, are likely to meet.
