Trafficking continues to be a major criminal activity throughout the world and while the body parts of animals are smuggled for various purposes, some exotic and quite lethal creatures are also being trafficked.
In an astounding development in California, a man was caught trying to smuggle deadly King Cobras inside a tin of potato chips. The reptile is known to grow up to 18 feet long and its venom can kill a human in 30 minutes and an elephant in a matter of hours.
The package also contained albino turtles of Chinese soft shell, and to bust the racket policemen they kept the snakes and sent the package to a man who was ready to receive it. They received a search warrant and searched the home of Rodrigo Franco to find many other protected species in his possession.
Franco admitted receiving 20 Reyes Cobras in two similar shipments previously.
