Teacher’s Day is all about thanking those who taught us valuable lessons in life. Bollywood, too, has seen some actors play teachers that have stayed with us. We spoke to a few people to find out which Bollywood character gives them the ‘best teacher’ feeling
While speaking to the college students and some recent graduates, Amitabh Bachchan emerged as the hot favourite for his role in Aarakshan. Danny Kurian, a college student from west Delhi, said, “In the film, Bachchan and his passion for pedagogy made him stand out. His students’ success, as well as his, came about due to this passion, even though he taught students in an adverse environment. I think he is the best teacher from Bollywood.”
Sanjay Ghosh, who is also a photography student at Jamia Milia Islamia University, said, “Amitabh Bachchan in Aarakshan has portrayed a noble character of a teacher. I think it his personality as well. It really suits him. His voice and persona were the added advantages that we, the viewers, are still in love with.”
Despite Big B being most people’s favourite, Aamir Khan is not far behind. As a student said, his friendliness in the movie Taare Zameen Par, has made him popular with many. “I adore Aamir as a teacher. In the movie Taare Zameen Par, he was not just a teacher but also a friend who did everything possible to help his students. He was empathetic and tried his level best to bring out the best in his students. This is why I chose Aamir Khan as my teaching idol,” Mallika, a Daulat Ram College student told us.
