Andhra Pradesh government to acquire land in 10 villages in the capital region, farmers oppose the measure
Made without objections raised by a section of the peasants to give up their land for the proposed regional capital of Andhra Pradesh government issued a notification to acquire land in 10 villages under the Land Acquisition Act. It is expected to issue a similar notification after the acquisition of land in the remaining 19 villages.
The collector of Guntur district last night issued notice to appoint Deputy Special collectors currently working under Land Pooling Scheme AP as government officials “to perform all functions of the Collector under section 3 (g) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 read with Article 2 (1) (d) of the State of Andhra Pradesh Guarantees Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2014. ”
The land to be acquired in these villages is 3892 acres. The Capital Development Authority AP Region (CRDA) has already taken possession of over 25,000 acres in the area under the scheme of sharing of land and has set a goal of having at least 30,000 acres under its possession. Farmers in these 10 villages are reluctant to part with their land and have not participated in the Plan Sharing the land, which is voluntary.
These ten villages which are divided into 26 units are: Krishnayapalem, Nowlur 1 and 2, Kuragallu, Nidimarru, Undavalli, Penumaka, Tadepalli, Malkapuram, Borupalem, Abbarajupuram, Dondapadu, Pitchikalapalem, Inavolu, Rayapudi, Kondamarajupalem, Nekkallu, Nelapadu, Sakamuru, Thulluru 1 and 2, Velagapudi, Venkatapalem, Mandadam 1 and 2, and Ananthavaram. These people are in Guntur district in Mangalagiri, and Thulluru Tadepalli mandals.
A protest was held by dozens of farmers out of the office this morning CRDA against the government’s move. They brought with them baskets of dozens of varieties of vegetables and fruits that grow in their fields to show why they do not want to part with their land.
They accused the government is grappling them to give up their land. First, the TDP government launched the policy of sharing the land, saying it was voluntary, but officials have coerced and intimidated farmers to give up their land. Now, those who have not bowed to pressure they forced this notification to acquire land through the act of acquisition, added.
All opposition parties also oppose government move to acquire land from farmers without their consent. Even movie star and president Pawan Kalyan Jana Sena, who had campaigned support TDP and BJP candidates in elections last year also warned the government against such a move. He even threatened that he would stand by farmers in their fight against the government motion.
