Audiences say Tube’lite’!
Salman Khan has made EID his own vacation, so much so that in some of his films, the actor had the punching lines like “Eid hein apna Eidi lene jaroor aayega” (Bhai will definitely come to collect his prize for this EID). Such has been his participation in the box office since Dabangg, the launch of the 2010 EID. The new Salman film, Tubelight with Kabir Khan, which delivered Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan type of films on Eid, stopped in the domestic and overseas markets as well.
Fans and trade experts are surprised to see such a low response for the film as it has become a standard for any Salman star to cross 100 crores over the weekend. But this movie has just collected 85 crores for five days, even with Eid vacations. The film could not even collect as much as its ‘Bodyguard’ that launched six years ago for Eid.
Well, the movie was criticized by critics for being too dumb and forced. In addition, Salman’s performance was compared to the actor’s worst performances. But the actor commented arrogantly that even if critics give his films negative ratings and a rating of 1 or .5, his films will do well at the box office.
Even the actor’s fans expected the film to cross at least 100 crores in the first weekend, but the film is struggling to even cross 100 in the first week and life could end in between 130 and 140 crores. The film has already been called a disaster and distributors could lose more than 60 crores has bought the film for 138 crores, while the part of the film will end somewhere between 65 to 70 crores.
