Australia thrash Scotland defy rain for seven wickets
Australia thrash Scotland defy rain for seven wickets-Australia got the better of minnows Scotland in a rainy day strike as the hosts defeated their opponents by seven wickets in Hobart. Mitchell Starc was the trump for Australian David Warner, James Faulkner and captain Michael Clarke hit well.
Clarke: “As I said at the draw is forecast So, luckily we have enough time But credit back to the way the boys played I thought our players did a great job to bowl…. Scotland and how hitters put the team first and tried to score runs as quickly as possible, it is always good to win. I do not think there is any better preparation leading to the quarter-finals to win. So, as we have seen throughout this tournament, you have to be at your best in every game. We are now in the quarterfinals and we know it’s a knockout phase. Therefore, we could not ask for a better preparation. We had a small hiccup against New Zealand. But the guys are excited and look forward Adelaide. Everyone is waiting for the quarterfinals, but obviously have to. Therefore, you have to take each as serious as the other party. But very happy that we got there and now we come to be at our best. We are about to discover that it is safe, three games, we have to play our best and I think if we do that, we can win (when asked if Australia can go all the way). If we do not, we will have on the couch watching. ”
Mommsen:… “We knew it was always going to be a tough game for us wanted to face the challenges of today and, unfortunately, was not meant to be for us to take a lot of positives of the last 6 games I think the more we play, the better we become. As a unit we leave this competition, one one much stronger much better team. Very impressive. I think as a team we are proud of their accomplishments (Davey). He can hold his head high, that It is an impressive achievement. The focus shifts to 20-20, have the World Cup qualifiers in Scotland in June. We are going back to refresh and refocus and hopefully qualify for the World Cup. ”
Starc, ‘Yes, can not complain. But it was important for us to put in a bullish performance. With little time around we knew it’s going to be around the guys were pretty hard with the bat. It was great to see some of selfless cricket. It’s an important game and obviously anything could happen tomorrow in terms of who we play, but it’s an important game for us (speaking of the quarter-final). Obviously, it’s the knockout stage, we are raring to go. Done and dusted with the group stage and the guys are waiting for the back. I’ve been working on it pretty hard with Craig McDermott, probably from the Dubai one-day series there. It has been going well, I can not complain and just want to keep that in the back. “
