Baahubali directed his way through many problems: Producer Shobu
Producer Shobu Yarlagadda should be driven by the phenomenal success of the Baahubali franchise of S.S. Rajamouli. But he says that the film went through many problems to get successful. Speaking at the Melbourne Indian Film Festival, which ends Tuesday, Yarlagadda talked about the problems she faced in making her films. Rajamouli and Yarlagadda had previously worked together in Ram Charan’s Magadheera.
Speaking about the length and budget of Magadheera, he said: “The problem was the length – it did not fit in three hours. We were not sure to let the story go.” That’s why we plan to do it as a two-part film. Rajamouli wanted to come back and try to accommodate him in a three-hour movie, but we kept him from doing it. ”
The team had to face many problems prior to the Magadheera launch, but Rajamouli’s confidence helped steer through obstacles. “I was confident in Rajamouli, the challenge was timing and adhering to the budget, but we overcame our deadline and budget, it started as a Rs 120 crore project and then went on. Release from northern India, but it was not justified, I think, “he said.
Planning changed for Baahubali. “But for Baahubali, we started working on the launch of Hindi from the first day and we knew we had to do more to work in India,” he added. From the beginning, Baahubali was planned as a two-part film. “We realized when the script was ready that there’s a lot of Baahubali you can say and not everything could be put into the movie. So we started exploring options and putting things in their place since we started,” he said. The Baahubali franchise is India’s biggest blockbuster with global earnings of more than Rs 900 crore.
