Brahmotsavam will be my third superhit with Mahesh Babu: Samantha
One of the biggest worries for actresses cast opposite Mahesh Babu is to look as good as him. But Samantha seems to have figured out a mantra to hold her own opposite the most good-looking actor in T-town. “When you’re working with Mahesh, it’s better to keep things simple. Because he’ll look effortlessly striking even in a jeans and tee. So, if you try too hard you’ll just end up looking like a clown,” says Samantha, laughing. “I play a happy-go-lucky girl in the film. So styling also is in sync with the character, very earthy and flowy…” she adds.
Samantha sounds pretty upbeat about the prospects of Brahmotsavam, produced by Prasad V Potluri under PVP Cinema , which is releasing on May 20. “I already have two superhits with Mahesh — Dookudu and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu — and I’m pretty sure Brahmotsavam is going to be the third (superhit)”, she proclaims, even as she heaps praises on her co-star. “He is one of the few actors who believes content is king. It is always an amazing experience to work with him ‘cos when I get to play better roles when I do films with him,” she says.
Ask her what was the most challenging part of acting in the film and pat comes the reply, “For a scene I had to drive on the highway. And I don’t drive at all! With those huge lorries zooming past — it was super scary! Meanwhile, Mahesh was sitting beside me and saying, “Devuda… Is this going to be my last day? Tell my wife and kids I love them!” And that wasn’t helping at all! But yes, he and Kishore (Vennela Kishore) who was with us in the car helped me deal with the stress by cracking jokes throughout the shot.”
