China praises India for “strong resolution against terrorism” in the middle of Sikkim
Hamburg: In the midst of Sikkim’s confrontation, China has praised India at the informal meeting of BRICS leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
Chinese President Xi Jinping valued India’s firm resolve against terrorism and the momentum in the BRICS, presented under the presidency of India.
Modi on the other, he said, “there has been a positive momentum in the BRICS under the chairmanship of President Xi Jinping, best wishes for the next BRICS Summit.”
China and India have been involved in a clash in the Dokalam area near the tri-crossing of Bhutan for more than 19 days after a Chinese Army construction group attempted to build a road.
Doka La is the Indian name for the region that Bhutan recognizes as Dokalam, while China claims it as part of its Donglang region.
Previously, China had “canceled” a bilateral bilateral meeting between Xi and Modi saying that “the atmosphere was not right”, referring to the tension derived from the confrontation.
However, India had responded by saying, “But we do not ask for any meetings, so where is the atmosphere conducive or not?”
