Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has once again reiterated that the government is committed to reservation for the Kapu community. He said that there is no question of going back on it. However there were no takers to believe him as he had proved beyond doubt that he is not serious in what he says. In fact, it became a practice for him to reiterate the same whenever the Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham threatens to intensify the movement.
It may be recalled here that the government had constituted a Judicial Commission headed by Justice Manjunathan to look into the matter almost immediately after coming to power. The Chief Minister at that time said that the Commission would submit its report in a year and immediately after the Commission submits its report the government would take appositive decision to include the Kapu Community in BCs without effecting the existing reservations for other BC communities. But even after three years there was no progress except extending the tenure of the Commission.
Meanwhile the government initiated smart pulse survey to study the socio economic condition of the people but there seems to be no end to this so called ‘Smart’ survey.
While the Commission and survey reports hangs in the air, Naidu announced cabinet sub-committee to study employability and education levels in the Kapu community. The Committee consisting of Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, China Rajappa, Achhannaidu, Kalva Srinivasulu and Kollu Ravindra is supposed prepare a comprehensive report. However, the ministers in the committee are not ready to take up the job as they believe that it is another deceiving tactics to confuse the people.
