Hyderabad, July 2: In a setback for Congress in Telangana, senior leader D Srinivas today left the party and declared to join the TRS rulers. Srinivas, who has served as president of the state unit of Congress and former minister in Andhra Pradesh, said he has decided to join the TRS to work towards the goal of a “Golden Telangana ‘. In a major setback for the main opposition in Congress from Telangana, a senior leader is all set to join ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The former minister D. Srinivas on Wednesday Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who is also the president of TRS, amid reports that he has finally decided to leave the Congress met.

Srinivas, a former president of the Andhra Pradesh unit of Congress, is likely to join TRS at a public meeting in his home district of Nizamabad.

Two other former ministers D. Nagender and Sudershan Reddy and some other leaders are also likely to switch loyalties to TRS.

Srinivas, a leading class back, was unhappy with the congressional leadership for not having nominate Telangana Legislative Council for another term.

He also was unhappy about the way the Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh was running party affairs in the state.

In a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi, Srinivas had complained that he was being ignored in decision-making. He, however, received no response that is believed to have led him to join the TRS.

Many Congress leaders, including five lawmakers have joined TRS since the latter came to power in the newly created state last year.

Meanwhile, Congress’ chief Uttam Kumar Telangana unit Reddy said no party leader went and there was no truth in the reports that Srinivas and other senior leaders are joining TRS.
