Toss time and Kings XI Punjab have elected to bat against Delhi Daredevils. KXIP are unchanged, while DD Unadkat replaced with Dominic Joseph.

353 days – that is the number of days it took Delhi Daredevils to curb their losing streak. Have been tested successfully on Wednesday – for the first time since April 27, 2014 – when they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad for 5 wickets in the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Set to chase 166, Delhi Daredevils blocks were slow, but accelerated by Mayank Agarwal and Yuvraj Singh, adding 106 of 66 balls.

Although DD lost opener Shreyas Iyer a short pitched delivery and skipper Sandeep Sharma JP Duminy be exhausted in unfortunate circumstances – backups too far, had a platform that persecution was created. Agarwal, who had collected three borders in the first two overs, reined himself and seemed to be hitting batting intending to finish. He kept the scoreboard ticking over while Yuvraj raced out of the blocks hit four boundaries in his first 21 races.

KXIP captain Sandeep bowled out Bailey and Johnson before the 15th again in search of land. Once Yuvraj Agarwal and had survived beyond the 15 credits, there would be only one winner. The former became the first batsman to post 50 in the match with a bold hook shot off Johnson. Yuvraj turned on the heater in the 16th over when he deposited his left arm spinner Patel Axar in the stands twice – once longer and then over the square leg fence. Then he took a comprehensive supply Anureet Singh into the stands to display its half century; the 33-year-old southpaw consumed 39 balls for his 55 years, and its association with Agarwal gave the team 106 runs. Both the mean centurions perished in the 19 on – off consecutive deliveries – with his team need to win seven races. Angelo Mathews hit the winner Axar Patel concerned outside to see his team past the finish line – with a ball to spare isolation.

For DD, Sandeep Sharma was the selection of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 1-30 in his four overs. Johnson was sharp, and recorded a faster speed 151.1kph speed gun – but unfortunately for KXIP, Australian wicket-less and was granted 43 runs in his four overs. Anureet Singh was the most successful player KXIP bowling, returning figures of 2-33.

In early afternoon, KXIP captain George Bailey won the toss and decided to bat first his team. Murali Vijay and Virender Sehwag saw the team to a sound start, adding 33 runs in 29 balls, before the first was rejected by Angelo Mathews. Sehwag – who did not bat in his usual flamboyant ‘see ball, hit the ball’ style was rather conservative but much of their tickets – held, and in company with Wriddhiman Saha (who batted at number three) added 71 races. Saha was enterprising of the two batsmen, scoring 39 off 28 balls, including hitting three sixes, while Sehwag contributed 29 runs from 25 balls. The alliance was broken when Saha tried to slog sweep Amit Mishra but was beaten by a quicker and flatter delivery, did not make contact with the ball and took the wood behind him reorganized.

From 105-2 after 14 overs, DD could only add another 60 runs in the last six overs. Sehwag, who was severe in Imran Tahir scoring 15 runs in four installments, was dismissed in the 15th over, immediately after he had hit JP Duminy for six over midwicket; who made 47 of 41 balls, studded with four boundaries and two sixes.

Glenn Maxwell picked up two sixes off Imran Tahir, but the leg-spinner had the last laugh, dismissing Australian caught covers. David Miller made July 5 balls before he became the second victim of Duminy. Axar Patel and George Bailey collected 19 runs against 19 during shot by Amit Mishra, and helped KXIP finish with 165 runs on the board. There were six overs where KXIP batsmen amassed 10 runs or more in the envelope, and six overs in which the batsmen failed to score less than run-a-ball.

Nathan Coulter-Nile was the most impressive of the bowlers KXIP; the Australian paceman rolled his three overs (they had 13 deliveries point) to 14 races, but surprisingly failed to complete its quota of four overs. Amit Mishra (1-34) shot his first three overs for 15 runs, before conceding 19 in his last over. Imran Tahir, who conceded 34 in two extensions, finished his four overs with figures of 3-43 to realize the Purple Cap in the head.
