Awards are slowly losing credibility among the audience and National Film Awards are not an exception to this. If we talk about Filmfare awards the situation is much worse. The majority of the awards go to stars like Shah Rukh Khan.. Hrithik Roshan.. Katrina Kaif.. Anushka Sharma. There is even criticism on the Filmfare awards that actors and technicians ‘buy’ those awards. Senior actor Rishi Kapoor revealed in the past that he bought an award for Rs. 30,000.
Contrary to every year, the Filmare jury has surprised the audience this year with their choice. They have chosen Irrfan Khan as the best actor for his performance in ‘Hindi Medium’ movie whereas Vidya Balan as the best actress for ‘Tumhari Sulu’. It has really shocked everybody because everybody expected ‘as usual’ that they will give away award to Shah Rukh Khan for ‘Raees’ and Katrina for ‘Jagga Jasoos’.
Though the choice of Irrfan Khan and Vidya Balan is far better if we compare Filmfare awards in the past. But still, they couldn’t escape the trolls from the netizens. The reason is that they have completely ignored Rajkumar Rao for the best actor category. Rajkumar Rao delivered wonderful performances in ‘Newton’ as well as ‘Trapped’. What baffled netizens is that they have included Varun Dhawan in the best actor category for ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. Even popular film critic Rajeev Masand also surprised at the choice of the awards.
