Five people, including the Congress MLA dead in train accident in Andhra Pradesh
NANTAPUR: A MLA Congress of Karnataka was one of five people killed when a truck loaded with excess grain of speed smashed train Bangalore-Nanded Express after breaking the door closed at a level crossing in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of today.

MLA Deodurg Congress in Raichur Karnataka district that was four times Lok Sabha MP, was one of three passengers died on the spot, DIG Anantapur, K Satyanarayana told PTI, adding that two others were injured and moved the hospital in Bangalore.

The laden vehicle approached the level crossing at high speed, boom broke the door closed and knocked the coach H-1 of the train running. The truck driver did not heed any of the warnings, railways said, adding that resulted in the derailment of four coaches.
The derailment was caused by “road train truck hitting the closed damper Crossing level overlooking all safety warnings,” he said in a statement.
He said the cause of the accident, as to whether the vehicle’s brakes failed or the driver was drunk and fell asleep, was determined in the investigation.
He also sought an ex-gratia of over Rs 10 lakh families of the victims.
Recalling that train accidents occurred in the district of Anantapur, in the past as well, Reddy said the state government would write to the Centre for the adoption of appropriate measures to prevent the occurrence of such tragedies in the future
