New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped that GST’s “growing spirit” would bring enthusiasm to Parliament’s procedures and that political parties would engage in high-level debate and bring added value during the Monsoon session.
Pointing to the start of today’s session as very significant, Modi noted that this session has the opportunity to elect a new president and a vice president for the country, which will also complete seven decades of independence on August 15.
“Today the monsoon session begins, as if the monsoon brought hope, this session also brings the same spirit of hope, and after the summer the rains fill the soil with a pleasant smell, in the same way, due to the good rainfall of the GST Session will be full of enthusiasm.
“I believe that all political parties, all deputies, will make significant decisions in the national interest, will engage with a high level of debate and try to add value in all issues, adding value throughout the system,” he said.
The prime minister said that the GST passage showed the good that can be achieved when all parties come together and work for the nation.
“The spirit of the GST is to be strengthened more and more and I expect the same spirit of GST to prevail in the session,” he said.
