Hyderabad:The Hyderabad Metro Rail Project has set out on Tuesday and the first phase is likely to be completed in around three years.
“We’re supposed to complete (the project) in five years. But we are currently considering commissioning phased … Our task is to complete the first phase, we have assumed between Nagole and Mettuguda, in about three to three and a half years, “VB Gadgil, Executive Chairman and CEO of L & T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) said.
The project was awarded first infrastructure to another company but the deal had to be scrapped in 2009. Subsequently he witnessed some protests over alleged demolition of heritage buildings.
The financial closure of the project was conducted in March 2011 and the concession contract was signed by the special purpose entity, L & T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, with the government of Andhra Pradesh, on September 4, 2010.
The project is one of the largest PPP projects worldwide in the field of Metro. It is the construction of 71.16 km of elevated Metro rail in three corridors with 65 stations.
Works on Metro Rail Over Bridges (ROBs), one of the important aspects of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR), began today with the launching of Bharatnagar ROB works here. HMR corridors are crossing the tracks of Indian Railways at eight locations in the twin cities with Corridor-I (Miyapur to L B Nagar) having three ROBs, Corridor-II (JBS to Falaknuma) having one ROB and Corridor-III (Nagole to Shilparamam) having four ROBs. “This (work on ROBs) is one..
