Hyderabad: A policeman was injured on Friday after a young offender, wanted in a robbery case, attacked him with a leaf in the Meerpet area before escaping, police said.
Police officer S Ramesh has been hospitalized following the 16-year-old Juvenile Conflict with the Law (JCL) attack, police said.
The incident occurred when the officer and a home guard had gone to apprehend the child, who was running away in a scooter robbery case.
“The policeman and a police officer at the Meerpet police station were arrested to arrest the JCL, who was moving on a stolen scooter and when the police tried to catch him, allegedly attacked the policeman with a razor blade before fleeing,” They said.
The attack resulted in Ramesh suffering injuries to his left forearm and was admitted to a private hospital, a statement from Rachakonda police commissioner said.
Last year, the child had committed property-related crimes. So far, he had been arrested three times by the Meerpet police. However, he had gone to flight in a case of scooter theft, he added.
“An application is being filed with the Juvenile Justice Board to treat him as an adult, as he was an active and potential offender of property and property and involved in up to six cases,” police said.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat and other senior police officers visited the hospital and became interested in the incident.
