The famous Chilukuru Balaji temple in Hyderabad warned its devotees with stringent action if they greeted others saying ‘ Happy new year ‘ in the Holy place on January first.
The temple Chief Priest Rangarajan said those who found violate the new norm will be punished to do sit ups in the premises. Since it was English tradition, people are not allowed to exchange new year greetings in the temple on January first. If anyone wanted to greet, they should say ‘Wish you happy English Year’ only.
Rangarajan said for Telugu people, Ugadi is considered as new year. People should celebrate new year on Ugadi. The temple will also organise new year celebrations on first day of Telugu year only.
