Mumbai: India’s convincing 2-1 victory over Australia in early 2017 had many memorable moments. The hilarious face of Ishant Sharma who was mocking before Australian captain Steve Smith during the 2nd Test in Bengaluru was one of them, when the two were having a go at each other in the middle of the park.
Recently, in an interview with Vikram Sathaye on his What the Duck program, the Indian pacer recalled the hilarious sledging incident with the Australian captain who is still fresh in the minds of cricket lovers. Here is a clip of the incident:
“He (Smith) went on to say” well-launched partner “every time he got a single one against me during the Pune test, initially I could not understand what he was saying because of the Australian accent is not easy to understand. When I heard this, I told him directly in his face that “you have never praised me when I have thrown you in Australia, only now you find my bowling good and praising my Effort, “said the Indian bowler.
After constant attempts to annoy Smith, Ishant made a comical gesture to the Australian captain who caught his attention. Smith, however, did not remain silent and responded with an ingenious expression of his own interpretation of the next ball. Indian captain Virat Kohli could not help but laugh before easing the situation.
Ishant now awaits Sri Lanka’s test tour as he has been included in the 15-man squad in the series.
