Kerala: 5-axis Oppn action gets suspended riot, House adjourned
Kerala Assembly on Monday suspended five CPI (M) -led LDF Opposition MLAs until the end of the session to create uproar in the assembly last week.
The assembaly had erupted into chaos last Friday as opposition leaders tried to prevent Finance Minister KM Mani, who faces a probe for monitoring in the case of bars scam, since the submission of the state budget.
Several MLAs were also injured in the clash within the assembly as a chair and speaker mics were cast by lawmakers.
MLAs are suspended EP Jayarajan, V Sivankutty, K Kunjahmed (all CPI-M), KT Jaleel (LDF IND) and Ajit K (IPC).
A resolution to this effect, moved by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was approved by the House amid strong protests from the opposition benches and the House adjourned until March 23.
Moving the resolution, Chandy said incident “unprecedented” on March 13 had brought shame to the state. The LDF MLAs “transferred” to the stage and destroyed speaker microphone system, computer and a chair and pulled the files.
In a democracy, the restriction must be demonstrated, even during the protest and MLAs of the opposition crossed the limits, he said, adding, LDF was now trying to blame MLAs governing violence.
Referring to the accusation of the opposition of mistreating women MLAs for power against Chandy said the LDF had given a complaint to the President in writing. “This is an issue that has now brought to divert attention from their actions.”
He also made it clear that no action against UDF MLAs who will be taken “has not done anything wrong.”

In the current peculiar circumstances, the discussion on the budget should be cut short and limited to one day and wanted Chandy said Speaker N Sakthan to complete the process of budget approval on March 23, when the House will meet next.
Back when the House assembled, the President said that “we should all hang our heads in shame and tender our apology to the people of violence in the assembly. Everyone witnessed the events in the House on March 13 we responsible for the incidents in the black day which is being discussed in the world “.
