Mirwaiz and Mehbooba Mufti welcome PM to “embrace the people of Kashmir”
Srinagar: Key separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Prime Minister Mehbooba Mufti have received Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that bullets and abuses will not help solve the problems in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The problem of Kashmir will not be solved by bullets or abuses, but only by embracing people,” the Prime Minister said in his address on Independence Day at Red Fort in Delhi on Tuesday.
Welcoming him, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the Awami Action Committee – one of the two key factions of the All-Party Hurriyat Conference – tweeted: “Welcome” @narendramodi also believes that ‘goli and gali will not help solve Kashmir. ) And insaaf (justice) replace them, resolution can become a reality. ”
Mufti said he has always believed that only dialogue and peaceful means can help solve problems.
“The motto ‘ban dook says na goli say: Baat banay gi boli say (no gun or bullet, but talk will help solve the problems) coined by our party about 15 years ago is as relevant today as it was then,” said in a Communicated in Srinagar.
The Chief Minister said she welcomed the Prime Minister’s statement and hoped that the Kashmir issue would be resolved amicably.
However, his predecessor and chairman of the National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah, said that not only rhetoric but “concrete action” on the ground would help to seek a peaceful solution to Kashmir and the problems faced in the state.
“PM Modi’s words for Kashmir have been very well received by the people here, but here everyone is tired of talking more and no concrete action,” he tweeted.
In another tweet, he said, “The pudding test is in the eating.” Respect must include respect for the unique status that J & K enjoys within the Indian Constitution that sets it apart from all other states. “
