‘SVSC’ started the Multi-Starrer Trend at Tollywood after a long gap. Directors and writers began focusing on Two Hero Scripts ever since. But, such projects can not be expected from stars very often in TFI due to several equations. Fortunately, many of the young heroes are willing to share the screen space with their counterparts. Sriram Aditya of ‘Bhale Manchi Roja’ succeeded in persuading four heroes to form part of his second film, ‘Shamanthakamani’. Has this young filmmaker done justice to the confidence they had in him?
Synopsis:
Krishna (Sudheer Babu) goes to the party in a vintage car called ‘Shamanthakamani’ which was bought by his father at an auction for Rs 5 crore. This luxury vehicle disappears when you leave the party area. SI Ranjith Kumar (Nara Rohit) handles this missing case. He suspects the role of Krishna (Sudheer Babu), Siva (Sundeep Kishan), Karthik (Aadi), Umamaheswara Rao (Rajendra Prasad) in the robbery and grabs them one after another. Look at ‘Shamanthakamani’ in theaters near you to find out who the real culprit is!
Performances:
Cop Roles has been a ride to Nara Rohit. Exudes confidence and uses all his experience to create a solid impact. Especially, the Climax sequence is where he stood out as an Actor.
Sudheer Babu has played a serious role and tried to do something different this time around. The only defect could be his voice.
Although his paper does not have much screen time, Sundeep Kishan played his role well and makes the procedures interesting.
Aadi played the role of a boy by the door. He seems to be too enthusiastic in some scenes. But, it must be said that this young hero did a decent job.
The character of Rajendra Prasad could have been much better. None of the Female Characters has any significance. Chandini Chowdary looked beautiful. Not much to say about Genny & Ananya. Indraja, Suman, Tanikella, Raghu Karumanchi and Hema have done justice to their roles.

‘Shamanthakamani’ is technically solid. Mani Sharma leaves a mark on his account with an excellent background score. The only song in the movie is fine. Sameer Reddy’s work chamber is a great asset. Production values should have been much better. Director Sriram Aditya failed to overcome the second cinematic syndrome. The history of the wafer-thin and lack of strong emotion showed costly. He, however, showed the command he has in the script once more. But, the narration is not enough bunch. The final product could have been much better if the first half was not below par.
Analysis:
First things first, there is a great buzz around ‘Shamanthakamani’ since the creative posters and promotions were revealed. Movie Lovers assumed it could be a racy thriller, but it’s actually a decent crime comedy. Entertainment and emotions are two aspects that works wonders for such projects. Sriram Aditya managed to entertain and excite only to a certain extent.
The whole story revolves around the car called ‘Shamanthakamani’. The director did not correctly establish what is the specialty of this vintage item. As a result, Audience never has the feeling that it is a very luxurious possession. In such cases, the possibility of increasing the curiosity of the audience is completely discarded.
Crime Comedies mostly work due to unusual characterization and rich scripts. Although the first scenes were good, the audience loses interest gradually and the presence of too many protagonists worked against the film. Sriram Aditya showed his control over the script, but the character design should have been better. Keeping good rhythm in the narrative might have been really appreciated.
The first half of ‘Shamanthakamani’ is disappointing. The real story begins in the second half. Director kept the suspense with a good script and thrills the audience the climax. Twists & Turns in the second half are awesome. However, lack of sufficient entertainment and emotional quotient are the biggest drawbacks. Overall, ‘Shamanthakamani’ is a decent crime comedy!
Bottom Line: Partly good and partially bad!
