Since ‘Gulabi’, Krishna Vamsi has created many memorable films in his career. But, he’s going through a bad patch in the last decade. Even the golden opportunity in the form of “Govindudu Andarivadele” was under use. After a long gap, KV arrived with ‘Nakshatram’, which is a film based on Cops. Has Creative Genius Created Its Best?
Synopsis:
Rama Rao (Sundeep Kishan) was born into the family of the police, his great-grandfather, grandfather and father have served the police department. To carry forward the family legacy, He always wanted to be a Sub Inspector and strive to achieve the goal. He, however, was not able to qualify for work for several reasons. That’s when he decides to do the duty of a policeman even without wearing his uniform. How your life changed completely because of this decision forms the rest of the story!
Performances:
Sundeep Kishan played his role sincerely and the hard work put into it is visible on the screen. He stood out on the emotional scene after losing his last chance to become an SI. Although it is sometimes exaggerated, Global Sundeep left a mark of its own in this project.
Sai Dharam Tej Get-up and style have been impressive, but their role was not recorded correctly. Mega Hero is fairly common in terms of performance.
The glamor show of Regina and Pragya Jaiswal is nice to see. They, however, irritate you with your acting skills.
Prakash Raj tests the audience’s patience with strong performance. Even Tulasi is no different. Tanish points brownie points in the role of junkie. Its appearance is fit and performance worth mentioning. He, however, seems to be misfit to play main antagonist in a movie with such a big cast.

Techniques:
Three composers have worked for ‘Nakshatram’. The romantic songs of Sundeep-Regina and Tej-Pragya stand out in the album. Even the picturization of these songs is a feast for the eyes. The cinematography is fine. Although many actors including Sai Dharam Tej worked for the free budget and the budget crossed initial estimates at 30%, production values are not up to the mark. The overall appeal of the film gives the impression of seeing an old movie or a long delayed project. Seeing ‘Nakshatram’, one has the feeling of whether it is the same Krishna Vamsi who delivered many classics a decade ago. Creative genius disappoints very badly with this police drama with crime context.
Analysis:
No matter how many failures Krishna Vamsi could offer, Movie Buffs would expect to see every new movie from him. That’s the kind of impact he created with films like Gulabi, Ninne Pelladutha, Sindhuram, Khadgam and Murari. Even some of the aspects of their flop movies have been appreciated by the Movie Lovers. Unfortunately, ‘Nakshatram’ has hardly any positive aspects to make people go to theaters.
People assumed that “Nakshatram” could be a shocking movie like “Khadgam” after Krishna Vamsi claimed that he is 100 percent satisfied with the end result. However, the audience found the Cop Drama outdated, illogical and meaningless. Almost all the actors go overboard while performing and the kind of intensity one expects from the KV movie disappears. There are no moods or emotions to which viewers can connect.
Too much hype was given to the role of Alexander made by Sai Dharam Tej in the promos. But, the character has neither depth nor emotion some history to raise the film. The role of Pragya Jaiswal does not fit into the procedures. The song with Sundeep Kishan and Pragya Jaiswal irritates the audience.
Edit is worse to say the least. Audience find ‘Nakshatram’ unbearable after seeing it for 2 hours and 46 minutes. The cut of at least 20 minutes could have controlled the damage to some extent. Many times, the audience expects the Interval and Climax … that is a dangerous signal for any project. In general, ‘Nakshatram’ is not the type of cinema that viewers expect from a director of Krishna Vamsi’s stature.
