Lead actress Samantha is the brand ambassador for Handlooms in Telangana. It may be, this move by the TRS government prompted AP CM to name an actress to promote handlooms in her state.
On Monday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu honored the inaugural tournament of the world rankings of Indian Open Snooker. Poonam Kaur, who was one of the main guests for the event confessed that she is a big fan of Supreme TDP. Before the conclusion of the event, Babu surprised everyone by announcing that Poonam would be the ambassador of the brand for the manual loom.
AP CM’s unexpected move attracted criticism. People questioned the use of naming an actress who got fade out as the ambassador of the brand. Most public opinions felt at least one actress that could match Samantha’s stature and someone who has good fan following should have been preferred. The appointment of a brand ambassador alone can not develop the manual loom industry. In Telangana, Handloom-based Fashion Shows have been held, Handloom products were presented to prominent personalities and several Handloom stalls have been established by the Government to raise awareness and raise the standard of living of weavers. A long-term committed plan is needed to rescue the handloom industry from the crisis.
