PM Modi the BRICS, SCO summit today, meets Iran President Rouhani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met in the framework of the BRICS and SCO summits.

Modi, who met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held its first bilateral talks on Thursday with Rouhani.

Rouhani come talks with the five permanent members of the Security Council and Germany and Iran are thrashing the details of an agreement to curb Tehran’s nuclear program in Vienna.

Previously, he interacted with the CEOs of India and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Modi is in Ufa to attend the seventh summit of the BRICS and the SCO summit 15th. India is set to be made a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The theme of this summit is “BRICS alliance. A powerful factor for Global Development”, covering both political and economic issues, however, the emphasis on economic cooperation.

The Prime Minister will also participate in the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The SCO summit is likely to see India, which is currently an observer of the group, acquiring full membership.

China and India must work together to build a stronger and broader partnership between the BRICS, the president of China, Xi Jinping said.

Xi made the remarks on Wednesday when he met Modi in Ufa, ahead of two multilateral summits, Xinhua reported.

Hu recalled his meeting with Modi in May in the Chinese city of Xi’an, where the two leaders reached important in enriching bilateral strategic partnership consensus and forge an alliance for the development closely.

The meeting sent positive signals to the international community that the two major developing nations undertake to cooperate for common development, Xi said.

The agreements reached at that time are now being translated into steady progress in bilateral cooperation in areas such as parliamentary exchange, railway, industrial parks and smart cities, said Xi.

The president asked the two countries to make concerted efforts to maintain the positive momentum in the development of bilateral relations and open new prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation.

On border issues, Xi called on the two sides to properly manage and control their differences and work together to safeguard peace and security in the areas.

China and India should also make joint efforts to promote the development of infrastructure Investment Bank Asia, the New BRICS Development Bank and the economic corridor of Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar, said Xi.

In recent years, India and China have further expanded their trade cooperation and made steady progress in the areas of science and technology, outer space and infrastructure, Modi said.

It is the fourth bilateral meeting between the two leaders since his first in Fortaleza, Brazil in July. In September 2014 and May 2015, Xi and Modi visited the other country, respectively.
