Other day heroine Rakul Preet has gone to Tirumala through walkway as she scaled the sacred mountains along with Lakshmi Manchu and her husband Anand. But before praying to the great Lord for giving her such a wonderful career, she has given a striking statement, which is hurting cinema lovers now.
Couple of days back in a print media interview, this hottie shared that for the first time ever in her career she got a chance to star in a role on-par with the hero’s role. “In Rarandoi Veduka Chooddam, I’ve a role that is equal to Naga Chaitanya’s role and I’m loving it. Unlike just an addition to the cast, the story revolves around my character. I’m happy for that as never I got such chance all these days” she said, in the interview.
That may be true but when most films are written with a hero in the mind, definitely heroines do get only a small portion. But fans say that after raising to stardom and becoming part of hit films of our heroes, how can she now say that she’s given only small roles.
“These days actresses rise to superstardom and then they talk about nepotism, casting-couch, pay gap and gender bias in the film industry. They don’t speak about it when they started their career because they want to play safe game then. If they think this way, why a producer investing crores should not play safe game by giving more selling points to the hero and giving a minimum role to heroine?” a cinema lover asked.
