Samsung looks at a greener planet recycling Note 7 units
You must have been tired of reading about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco the last year and all the PR hype about trying to make the memory put a lesser strain on Mother Earth. There is a new announcement regarding note 7; This time it is about the components that Samsung plans to recycle from the millions of Note 7s that are in their warehouses.
Samsung’s latest announcement states that the company aims to recover and recycle around 157 tonnes of rare metals such as copper, cobalt and even gold from the circuit boards of the wasted Note 7 units. Aside from metal, the 7 units recalled will also donate AMOLED display modules (one of the most desired components by smartphone manufacturers these days), memory chips and its bright camera module for use in other devices.
The Galaxy Note Fan Edition helped Samsung to use the Galaxy Note 7’s unsold units after the fiasco. If Samsung achieves what it claims, then it will be a global example of how to handle IT chaos without disturbing Mother Nature. We all know that apart from faulty battery, note 7 was a brilliant smartphone with one of the best display units, one of the best camera modules and one of the best quality of the structure that a smartphone has ever seen. Therefore, any low-end device that receives your parts supply from Samsung’s recycling department should be a gadget to count.
