Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Saturday that TDP will continue their struggle until the central government gives special status to the state. Speaking at a meeting of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh`s case said special status was different.
He said that a day after the central government made it clear that it is not to grant special status to any new state in the current circumstances. Minister of State for Statistics Union and Rao Inderjit Singh Implementation Program Lok Sabha on Friday said that no state will be given a special status.
TDP chief, however, according to the minister`s statement was based on the report of the 14th Finance Commission. “This does not apply to Andhra Pradesh como` s a completely different case,” Naidu said. The Chief Minister said the state was not divided by the previous UPA government in an equitable manner. He said that justice was not done to Andhra Pradesh and therefore a special status is sought.
He made it clear that TDP, which is a member of the Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the center will continue its efforts to obtain special status for the state. The meeting paid homage to former President APJ Abdul Kalam and pilgrims died in a stampede during Godavari at Rajahmundry Pushkaram last month.
