Telangana CM KCR must declare their assets: Congress
Hyderabad: The Congress party in Telangana on Tuesday demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to declare their assets and seek new mandate in 12 assembly constituencies where lawmakers from opposition parties were passed to govern Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS ).
State Congress Vice President Mohammed Ali Shabbir said Chandrasekhar Rao must disclose all assets obtained from floating the TRS in 2001.
“In his affidavit filed with the Electoral Commission, KCR revealed assets of Rs 85.98 lakh while contesting from the seat Karimnagar Lok Sabha elections in 2004. Its assets grew to Rs 15.15 million rupees by 2014 elections,” he said.
Shabbir said the head of TRS should explain how their assets increased by almost 17 times in a decade, even though his party was running only a movement for an independent state.
The Congress leader demanded that TRS disclose chief source of funding for the party headquarters Telangana Bhavan, Telugu newspaper Namasthe Telangana ‘and television news channel’ T-News channel, where his family has interests.
Ridiculing the speech of the leader of TRS in the camp of his party, Shabbir said it was surprising that KCR was talking about morality and ethics as the most immoral policy is practiced.
He noted that during the past 11 months, the Chief Minister attracted 12 Assembly members and 13 legislative councilors of the opposition parties to his party times.
“If KCR really believes in ethics and morals, then you should ask all the 12 MLAs to resign and seek new mandate” he demanded Shabbir, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council.
The Congress leader said KCR did not honor his words. “Before the elections, he told people that his son and daughter were well established in the US and also he did not aspire to any message. He also promised to make a Dalit Chief Minister. However, it became the CM and most of his family members are conducting the first positions, “he said.
KCR son and nephew are cabinet ministers, while his daughter is an MP.
