Hyderabad: In one shocking incident, a farmer, who wanted a son, burned his pregnant wife and his six-year-old daughter lives in Yadadri district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Banoth Savitri, 26, and his eldest daughter Sridevi, 6.
According to police, Savitri was married to Banoth Shankar Naik, a farmer residing in Raavipadu Tanda in Bibinagar Mandal in the district. Two years after the marriage, Shankar became addicted to alcohol and began to harass Savitri. She gave birth to two girls, now 6 and 5 years old.
She is now pregnant with her third child.
Shankar, who suspected that the third child would also be a girl, began to harass her physically and mentally.
On Monday night, he came home very drunk and fought with her. Later, Savitri and the eldest daughter slept together, while the younger slept with him.
Around 2 am, Shankar poured Kerosene on the mother and her eldest daughter and set them on fire.
Both died instantly, while Shankar fled. The police recorded a murder case.
