Hyderabad: Police in the Northern Zone disrupted a three-person gang, including a priest, who allegedly tricked several job seekers by promising them public and private jobs. Police said the gang offered the entrance to the back door and collected lakhs of rupees from the victims.
Police arrested suspects D Vittal, a priest from Karwan, and his assistants, S. Padma Reddy, and B. Niranjan Kumar from the roads of Alugaddabavi. Another member of the gang, identified as Ramesh, is fleeing, police said.
According to the police, Vittal, who works as a priest, used to convince his potential targets that he could get them jobs by performing some kind of black magic. Reddy and Kumar are Ayurvedic doctors and entrepreneurs, respectively.
“They were arrested on charges of cheating people by offering them jobs in the government and private sectors,” said B Sumathi, DCP North Zone.
