Telangana Yatra happy with Rahul, Set to Encore
HYDERABAD: AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi may be back in Telangana in a month. His next Yatra, in all likelihood, would cover more than one district in the state.
Elated with the success of Solidarity Yatra their farmers in Adilabad district on Friday, Rahul said the reports, the leadership Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) certainly visit the state again within a month.
Apart from the public response, the unity shown by the leaders of the State Congress also seems to have prompted Rahul to keep the promise of a second visit.
Reportedly he told the TPCC he was happy with the way the Yatra was received by the people. He had wanted to meet farmers, women and tribal and fulfilled all three sections in Adilabad.
In fact, the leaders said Rahul TPCC was happy that his visit Telangana evoked response over the Vidarbha tour.
“Rahul Gandhi wanted us to prepare a schedule by which he can cover three districts. Let’s make a plan soon”, a senior Congress leader told Express.
Rahul had to meet with students of Osmania University and intellectuals during his tour last week, but could not. The leaders of the Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee were disappointed by the last-minute change in his schedule and was transmitted to the vice president of Congress.
The TPCC leaders are understandably jubilant and hope to reap the maximum second visit Rahul proposal.
However, they do not want to hyphenate their tour Telangana with Andhra Pradesh.
“Andhra Pradesh is divided and do not want the tour to be linked with it. Tour Telangana should be a completely independent”, reportedly recommends Rahul. The TPCC leaders, those who bid farewell to Nanded, praised Rahul to run 15 kilometers early in Adilabad. “Way of almost 10 kilometers per day,” Rahul reportedly said.
Venkaiah ridiculed Rahul Yatra
Minister of Urban Development of the Union and the BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday ridiculed Yatra Telangana Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
“It’s ridiculous … 1,60,000 farmers have committed suicide during the 10 years rule of the Congress and not the Congress party chief or his deputy bothered to visit farmers, at least once during that time. Rahul Gandhi has aroused suddenly to the plight of farmers and is shedding crocodile tears “, alleged Venkaiah.
Speaking to reporters here, he said: “Where was Rahul Gandhi when crops got damaged by unseasonal rains and farmers suffered while union ministers and ministers of state visited the camps and assured the farmers, Rahul It has now arrived, only to criticize the government. They even dragged the name of the prime minister Narendra Modi for cheap publicity. ”
Venkaiah said the UPA regime gave only `1.20 lakh as compensation to relatives of each farmer who had committed suicide. But PM Modi has increased it to `4 lakh per family.
In case of loss of crops, the UPA gave compensation only if 50% of crops were damaged. But the NDA government has declared compensation, even in cases where only 33% of the crop damage, Venkaiah said.
