Cherry Blossom had a hard life. Having suffered much, he was left in a shelter very sick. The pig from the farm was suffering from a severe case of Mange Sarcoptica and his skin had become raw, exposed and his immune system compromised.
While his condition was critical, to say the least, the owners of the shelter where he let himself fall were hopeful. “She has a long hard road ahead of her, but she can and will heal from this,” read her Facebook page.
“She had an incredibly severe case of sarcoptic mange …” Jen Sale, CEO and founder of Sale Ranch Sanctuary, told a newspaper. “If it’s not treated, it can be fatal.”
It turns out that her owner is to be the man who brought her, even though she said that she was actually a stranger to whom she had collected. Although no one knew the reason for their terrible condition, rescuers believe it came from the fact that the tiny piglet must have been kept in terrible condition.
“Most likely he was born in overcrowded and dirty conditions,” Sale said. “When I was a baby, her immune system was still developing, and she kind of got walloped.”
“When she came to us, she was in excruciating pain that had closed,” said Sale. “You could see the most incredible sadness and discomfort in her.”
Sale added: “She still wanted comfort from us … Even though she was in so much pain, she snuggled up and wanted to rub her belly. It is only a testimony of how forgiving and loving animals are.
After two months of treatment and lots of love, the piglet is completely healthy, his hair grown and his skin fully healed. “The transformation is really incredible.”
