US company to offer free microchip implants for employees
Three Square Market (32M) will offer chip technology deployed to all its employees on August 1, 2017. Employees will be deployed with an RFID chip that will allow them to shop in their micro-market, open doors, access computers, Copier, etc. This program, offered by 32M, is optional for all employees. The company expects more than 50 staff members to be chipped voluntarily. 32M has partnered with BioHax International and Jowan Osterland, CEO, based in Sweden.
RFID technology or radio frequency identification uses electromagnetic fields to identify electronically stored information. Often referred to as “chip” technology, this option has become very popular in the European market. The implant chip uses Near Field Communications (NFC); The same technology used in contactless credit cards and mobile payments. A chip is implanted between the thumb and forefinger under the skin in a matter of seconds.
A micro market, also known as a break room market, has become a staple in the US. With more than 20,000 places and growing. While it exists in more than a decade in the American workplace, the international community began to embrace this just a few years ago. A micromercado is a mini convenience store located in the employee restroom using a self-service kiosk, similar to what is found in many major retailers. Companies see multiple benefits by adding a micro-market to their location, such as increasing morale and employee productivity. 32M entered this growing industry four years ago and is growing rapidly in market share and believes that this technology will help it continue this trajectory.
“We foresee the use of RFID technology to drive everything from shopping in our restrooms to office space, opening doors, using copying machines, entering our office computers, unlocking phones, sharing business cards, storing medical information And health and use as payment at other RFID terminals, which eventually will normalize, allowing you to use it as your passport, public transportation, all shopping opportunities, etc. “commented Todd Westby, CEO of 32M.
“By working with our operators in Europe, we found a company of shredded employees at BioHax International and the concept of RFID use with micro markets grew rapidly,” said 32M VP of International Sales Tony Danna. “We see chip technology as the next evolution in payment systems, just as micro markets have constantly replaced vending machines.” As a leader in micro-market technology, it is important that 32M continues to lead the way with advances such as chip implants. “The international market is open and we believe that the future trajectory of the total market share will be driven by those who capture this scenario first,” said 32M COO Patrick McMullan. “Europe is much more advanced in the use of mobile technology and chip than the US and we are delighted with the growth opportunity this improvement will bring. Thanks to our market partners in Sweden, we met with this innovative company and we look forward to Work with them to take our market share to another level. ”
32M is imagining this technology to help it grow its other self-pay businesses. “We see this as another payment and identification option that not only can be used in our markets but also in other self-service / self-service applications we are now implementing, which include convenience stores and fitness centers,” added McMullan.
Employees will be torn apart at the 32M inaugural “chip festival” to be held at its headquarters in River Falls, WI on August 1, 2017.
