After winning the final of the French Open on Saturday – despite a terrible case of the flu that caused him to vomit in the middle of a semi-final – Serena Williams gave us another reason not to have to leave. She is now owner of 20 Grand Slam titles, approaching the Open Era record for Steffi Graff 22. She is the most dominating in tennis (male or female) and the greatest American athlete of this generation player. Period. Final Point.
Most people do not know that about her. Some would argue that is because tennis is a niche sport. They are wrong.
Serena Williams does not get his due because he is black and female.
At 33, Williams is still rising in his career at an age when many of his peers – regardless of the sport -would be decreasing. She is still winning comfortably but hardly celebrated. That fact is telling about the oversights that occur at the intersection of race and gender for black women.
Apparently, Serena Williams is undeniably black, which brands sometimes shy away from in their marketing campaigns. (I know, I work in advertising.) She, like me, is the descendant of black slaves-people type distance likes. She is not a woman of color cafe au lait, such as Misty Copeland, power professional dancer who became the first African American female soloist for the American Ballet Theater. (It should be noted here that Copeland has been opened and masterful in discussing their experiences with racism in the world of ballet, who like tennis, has been a world for white and rich.) Nor is the hair Williams’ painted straight or curly so they can do their more “exotic” and therefore more beautiful, and therefore, as a woman, the more valuable.

Apparently, every stroke of success, seeking to discredit someone. Consider what Martina Hingis offered years ago when streak Williams barely was heated: “Being black only helps [the Williams sisters] Many times they get sponsors because they are black and they have a lot of advantages.. because they can always say, ‘it Is racism “can always come back and say.’ Because we are this color, things happen.”
Few applaud his work ethic. Fewer still point to their training. It is peculiar how racism makes people that kind of detail is forgotten.
Consider further criticism that made the rounds on Twitter this weekend about Williams called “natural advantage” against other female players – the ancient belief in the supposed natural abilities of blacks when it comes to sports, an evolution of the slave – was the belief about our appeal made us exceptional muscular natural candidates for forced labor exploitative. It is a belief that has been an elevated landing racial prejudice, racial whistle for dogs ambiguous about the superhuman abilities of African Americans and their belief is not limited to sport. This dubious belief lurks within the criminal justice system; its effects are far reaching and sinister. This allowed the researchers to believe dogmatically high school athlete Kendrick Johnson caused his own death; which he led to the death of Mike Brown for the official Darren Wilson, who sees the teenager into a demonic figure of Hulk Hogan; and Louisiana State Police argue that allowed Victor White was able to shoot to death while handcuffed in the back of a state police car. The racially prejudiced mind makes mental gymnastics to prove that blacks can never be victims.
